QuickBooks Workshop

Description: This is a workshop providing basic training in the use of QuickBooks. Seating is limited to 8 students in order to be able to provide individualized instruction.

Seminar Leader: Oria Gonzales is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.  She joined SCORE in 2007 after practicing accounting for more than 25 years as a Controller and Accountant for several organizations. Over the years she has offered classroom instruction or customized individual training on QuickBooks in her private practice, but through SCORE you will be able to get the hands-on instruction you'll need to effectively use QuickBooks in your business for free.

Angel Investing and Other Funding Sources

Description: This seminar provides insight into the world of angel investing. It will focus on key requirements for consideration, how the process works, pros and cons, and who might qualify for this type of funding.  It will also touch upon related types of funding, in particular venture capital and private equity, contrasting the different perspectives of each.

Seminar Leader: The seminar will be led by Jerry Masin, Chief Operating Officer of DLA, a business advisory firm in Fairfield, NJ. Masin has nearly 30 years experience in building global technology and human resources disciplines.  He has led business-centric technology functions and has specific interest and expertise in the area of blended resource management. Masin actively supports economic development and entrepreneurship through his work with the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Enterprise Development Center, the Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Einstein’s Alley, Rutgers Business School’s Institute for Ethical Leadership, The Intersect Fund and SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business.

Building a Website for Your Business

Description: This seminar will discuss the fundamentals of putting together a website for your business from start to finish. It will also include Intellectual Property (IP) legal issues that you need to be aware of. The session is designed for all levels of business, from start-ups to mid-size companies.

Seminar Leader: Adam Nichols and Carole DeNatele, Esq. Adam is a principal in the corporate communications firm Markations in Langhorne, Pa. Carole is a SCORE counselor and a principal in the law firm IP Global Counsel Law offices in Levittown, Pa. She is an expert in the Intellectual Property field, has presented to Universities and business Incubators, and has counseled start-up, mid-sized and Fortune 500 companies on strategies for cost effective management of their IP portfolios.

SCORE QuickSTART Series

Description: Successful and experienced executives will help you make a "go/no go" decision for starting a business. Attend this new workshop series to learn how to:
  • Evaluate your idea: Are you ready to be a business owner?
  • Develop a marketing strategy. Define and understand your pricing strategy, target market and competition.
  • Create a financial plan. Draft a blueprint to achieve your financial goals and attract funding.
The SCORE QuickSTARTTM Series provides five three-hour workshops with action steps:
